Topic: God Cannot Be Deceived [Open Heaven for Teens 1 February 2021]

Memorise: Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed. 1 Samuel 2:3

Read: Acts 5:1-11

1 Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property.

2 With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet.

3 Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land?

4 Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God.”

5 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened.

6 Then the young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him.

7 About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.

8 Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?” “Yes,” she said, “that is the price.”

9 Peter said to her, “How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.”

10 At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.

Bible In One Year: Exodus 27-28; Matthew 21:23-46

MESSAGE:

Can a whole being hide behind a finger? No. This is how impossible it is to hide anything from God. He knows everything including the thoughts of your heart. He knows the motive behind your actions. For instance, in 1 Samuel 15:13-15, Saul told Samuel that he obeyed the instruction that God gave him which was to utterly destroy the Amalekites and spare no soul, whereas, he didn’t kill the king of Amalek and some animals. He thought he could lie to the prophet but God had already revealed everything to Samuel.

Are you like King Saul? As a teen raised in a godly home, changing your name or dressing in the school where your parents cannot see you is trying to deceive God. Lying to your parents during fasting period that you are fasting when you are not is deception. Paying less than your offering or tithe is a form of deception. Remember what happened to Ananias and Sapphira who lied to the Holy Spirit and died on the spot (Acts 5:1-11). May you not die young in Jesus name. Repent today before it is too late.

Action Point:

Repent if you have been deceiving yourself or anyone else in any aspect today.

Hymn 20: When We Walk With The Lord

  1. 1 we walk with the Lord
    In the light of His Word,
    What a glory He sheds on our way!
    While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
    And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

  1. Not a shadow can rise,
    Not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
    Not a doubt or a fear,
    Not a sigh or a tear,
    Can abide while we trust and obey.
  2. Not a burden we bear,
    Not a sorrow we share,
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
    Not a grief or a loss,
    Not a frown or a cross,
    But is blessed if we trust and obey.
  3. But we never can prove
    The delights of His love
    Until all on the altar we lay;
    For the favor He shows,
    For the joy He bestows,
    Are for them who will trust and obey.
  4. Then in fellowship sweet
    We will sit at His feet,
    Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
    What He says we will do,
    Where He sends we will go;
    Never fear, only trust and obey.
