TOPIC: Check Your Words (Open Heaven for Teens 1 February 2025)

MEMORISE: Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:2

BIBLE READING: 1 Timothy 4:12-13

12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

MESSAGE:

One of the ways a fellow can get into trouble easily is by speaking carelessly. No wonder James 3:2 says, “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.” If you find out that your words easily offend others, I want you to try a little exercise. Before saying anything, take a moment to consider these three things:

Open Heaven merchandise

  • Are the words I want to say positive?
  • Are the words I want to say harmless to others?
  • Are the words I want to say necessary?

If your answer to any of these three questions is no, then you should not speak. Today’s Bible reading tells us how to use our words. My dear child, speak only words that will uplift, encourage, and motivate others henceforth.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please help me speak only the right words at all times.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Exodus 13:18, Matthew 21:23-46

HYMN: 63 – O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing

1 O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer’s praise,
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of his grace!

2 My gracious Master and my God,
Assist me to proclaim,
To spread thro’ all the earth abroad
The honours of your name.

3 Jesus! the name that charms ourfears,
that bids our sorroWs cease,
‘Tis music in the sinner’s ears,
‘Tis life and health and peace.

4 He breaks the power of cancelled sin,
He sets the prisoner free;
His blood can make the foulest clean;
His blood availed for me.

5 Hear Him, ye dear, His praise, ye dumb,
Your loosened tongues employ
Ye blind behold your Saviour Come;
And leap, ye lame, for joy.
