TOPIC: Don’t Be Proud [Open Heaven for Teens 1 March 2023]

MEMORISE: Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18

READ: James 4:6

6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

MESSAGE:

Pride is when you are no longer teachable, and it is possible to be proud to man and God at the same time. You should not see yourself as superior to your peers.

I was at a beach and God told me to draw the picture of a man, and I did.

Then, He told me to wipe it off and I wiped the picture off with my leg. Then, He said to me that if I ever became proud, that is how He would wipe me off the earth, that no man would remember that I ever lived.

God will only exalt the humble, that is, He will only announce you when you humble yourself. According to our text for today, God hates the proud. If you still want to remain the beloved of God, stay humble. Be humble to your elders; don’t think you have “arrived” and take their words for granted.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, give me the grace to remain humble, in Jesus’name.

HYMN 9 – O Jesus, I Have Promised

  1. O Jesus, I have promised
    To serve Thee to the end;
    Be Thou for ever near me,
    My Master and my Friend:
    I shall not fear the battle
    If Thou art by my side,
    Nor wander from the pathway
    If Thou wilt be my Guide.
  2. O let me feel Thee near me;
    The world is ever near;
    I see the sights that dazzle,
    The tempting sounds I hear;
    My foes are ever near me,
    Around me and within;
    But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
    And shield my soul from sin.
  3. O let me hear Thee speaking
    In accents clear and still,
    Above the storms of passion,
    The murmurs of self-will;
    O speak to reassure me,
    To hasten or control;
    O speak and make me listen,
    Thou Guardian of my soul.
  4. O Jesus, Thou hast promised
    To all who follow Thee,
    That where Thou art in Glory
    There shall Thy servant be;
    And, Jesus, I have promised
    To serve Thee to the end;
    O give me grace to follow
    My Master and my Friend.
