TOPIC: No Work, No Encounter [Open Heaven for Teens 1 May 2021]

MEMORISE: As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed. Proverbs 26:14

READ: Proverbs 26:14-15

  1. As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.
  2. The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Kings 1-2, Luke 22:54-71

MESSAGE:

In Exodus 3:1-4, Moses encountered God while tending to the flock of his father-in-law. In Judges 6:11-24, Gideon was busy threshing wheat at a hidden wine press when an angel visited him and his divine assignment was commissioned.

Similarly, all Jesus disciples were busy doing one thing or the other when they were called. Paul was busy persecuting the Church when God called him. This proves a point; God has no business with a lazy fellow. If you read through the Bible, you will find out that all those who encountered God played their role. So, if you want a turnaround in any aspect of your life, you have to work. If you want to be the best in your class, you have to find out what the best student at the moment is doing and surpass it. If you want to grow spiritually, you need to have an encounter with God and to get this encounter, you need to hunger and thirst after God. Spend time in the presence of God fasting and communicating with Him. Laziness is not allowed in the kingdom.

KEY POINT:

To have an encounter with God, you have to work for it.

HYMN: CHRISTIAN SEEK NOT YET REPOSE

  1. Christian, seek not yet repose,
    Hear thy guardian angel say,
    “Thou art in the midst of foes:
    Watch and pray!
  2. Principalities and powers,
    Mustering their unseen array,
    Wait for thine unguarded hours:
    “Watch and pray!
  3. Gird thy heavenly armour on,
    Wear it every night and day,
    Ambushed lies the evil one:
    “Watch and pray!
  4. Hear the victors who overcame;
    Still they mark eachvwarrior’s way,
    All with one sweet voice exclaim,
    “Watch and pray!
  5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
    Him thou lovest to obey;
    Hide within thy heart His word,
    “Watch and pray!
  6. Watch, as if on that alone
    Hung the issue of the day;
    Pray, that help may be sent down:
    “Watch and pray!”
