MEMORISE: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7
READ: Matthew 25:1-12
1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
MESSAGE
Many years ago, before I joined the church, God said that RCCG was a covenant church that would have parishes all over the world. However, as the General Overseer, I still work very hard for this prophecy to be fulfilled. Whatever God is involved in entails hard work because He cannot work with lazy people.
You cannot keep singing, “Abraham’s blessings are mine,” without playing your own part; you must be willing to put in the work. For example, Jesus, during His ministry on earth, worked so hard that He was sleeping through a storm one day. As a Christian, you have a great inheritance, but if you are lazy, you cannot enjoy it. You must say goodbye to laziness. The extent to which you will fulfil your destiny is dependent on the effort you are willing to put in.
Beloved, stop spending countless hours on social media gisting with friends, playing video games, et cetera. If you want to be the best amongst your peers, you must be ready to work harder than the others.
REFLECTION
What measures are you taking to attain the goals you have set for yourself?
HYMN 8 – Lead Us Heavenly Father, Lead Us
1. Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us
O’er the world’s tempestuous sea;
Guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,
For we have no help but Thee,
Yet possessing every blessing
If our God our Father be.
2. Saviour, breathe forgiveness o’er us;
All our weakness Thou dost know;
Thou didst tread this earth before us,
Thou didst feel its keenest woe;
Lone and dreary, faint and weary,
Through the desert Thou didst go.
3. Spirit of our God, descending,
Fill our hearts with heavenly joy,
Love with every passion blending,
Pleasure that can never cloy;
Thus provided, pardoned, guided,
Nothing can our peace destroy.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 13:1-14:20 John 1:29-51
