READ: James 1:13-14
- Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
- But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Acts 16:1-40, Psalms 1-3
MESSAGE:
Many people have tried convincing the world that truth is relative. What is good to one fellow, may be bad to another. However, the truth cannot be ignored. The rate at which online and offline betting sites are springing up lately shows that the world is moving towards the end. People have become lovers of money and are seeking fast means of getting it.
No one can tell me that God is involved in betting because it is a scheme designed to cheat many and make a few fellows cash out. This purely negates the word of God in 3 John1:2 which says: I wish above all things that you prosper. Those who establish betting sites do not wish all their players to prosper. Besides, when you bet, you have little or no control over the result. For instance, if a match will be played between Manchester United and Liverpool, you can have three options; your team wins, the other loses or they both draw. In spite of having these options, you cannot control the outcome and this is what usually leads people into addiction with the hope that they someday will win. This is a very bad addiction. Allow the Spirit of God to guide you on your journey to financial empowerment. Im sure He will not guide you to betting.
ACTION POINT:
Stop any form of betting if you’re into it already.
HYMN: Lead Us Heavenly Father
- Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us
o’er the world’s tempestuous sea;
guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,
for we have no help but Thee;
yet possessing every blessing,
if our God our Father be. - Saviour, breathe forgiveness o’er us:
all our weakness Thou dost know;
Thou didst tread this earth before us,
Thou didst feel its keenest woe;
lone and dreary, faint and weary,
through the desert Thou didst go. - Spirit of our God, descending,
fill our hearts with heavenly joy,
love with every passion blending,
pleasure that can never cloy:
thus provided, pardoned, guided,
nothing can our peace destroy.
