TOPIC: Does He Know You? [Open Heaven for Teens 10 November 2022]

MEMORISE: I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. John 10:14

READ: Matthew 7:21-23

  1. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
  2. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
  3. And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Hebrews 7:21-28, Lamentations 1-2

MESSAGE:

Many people claim to know God. They know His names, read the Bible, go to Church, work in different departments in the Body of Christ et cetera, so, they believe that they know God.

Well, it is good to know God but it is far better to be known by God. You might say “But God knows everything, He is the Creator of everyone and He knows me”. To be known by God here goes beyond His being aware of your existence, it means a deep knowledge and acknowledgement of who you are based on the relationship that exists between the both of you. For instance, in our Bible reading for today, Jesus said that not everyone who called Him Lord would enter into the Kingdom of God. He went further to say that some would say that they cast out demons, performed signs and wonders in His name and He would still ask them to depart from Him.

Beloved, those referred to in today’s Bible reading, who cast out demons, who performed signs and wonders were not unbelievers; they were workers, prophets, pastors et cetera. Therefore, it is not enough to be a worker in Gods house. Have a personal relationship with God. Do His will at all times and God will recognise you.

REFLECTION

Does God truly know you?

HYMN: Must I Go And Empty Handed

  1. Must I go and empty-handed,
    Thus my dear Redeemer meet?
    Not one day of service give Him,
    Lay no trophy at His feet?

CHORUS
“Must I go and empty-handed?”
Must I meet my Saviour so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him,
Must I empty-handed go?

  1. Not at death I shrink or falter,
    For my Saviour saves me now;
    But to meet Him empty-handed,
    Thought of that now clouds my
    brow.
  2. Oh, the years in sinning wasted,
    Could I but recall them now,
    I would give them to my Saviour,
    To His will I’d gladly bow.
  3. Oh, ye saints, arouse, be earnest,
    Up and work while yet ’tis day;
    Ere the night of death o’er take
    thee,
    Strive for souls while still you may.
