- A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
- Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
- Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.
- The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.
- A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Proverbs 17-18, 2 Corinthians 2:1-17
MESSAGE:
Some people complain that there are no genuine friends out there and that the few good ones have ulterior motives. Well, this is not entirely true because there are still genuine people. All you need to do is to be a good person, then, ask God to send a genuine friend to you.
I remember the story of a young girl who brought an amount of money to my house many years ago. She had been saving the money to travel abroad but the money was not enough. So, she decided to sow it as a seed into my life. Although, I was reluctant to take it, I eventually did and prayed for her. Weeks after, she came to testify that her friend who was to travel abroad with her family refused to go without her. She enjoyed an all-expense paid trip abroad because she was friendly.
The truth is, if you want to enjoy the benefits of friendship, you must first be friendly and give to friends. Do away with bad habits because bad habits will make good people stay away from you, after all, like will always attract like.
ACTION POINT:
If you need a good friend, be a good person.
HYMNS: I’ve Found A Friend In Jesus
- I’ve found a friend in Jesus,
He’s everything to me,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to
my soul;
The Lily of the Valley, in Him
alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make
me fully whole.
In sorrow He’s my comfort, in
trouble He’s my stay;
He tells me every care on
Him to roll.
He’s the Lily of the Valley, the
Bright and Morning Star,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand
to my soul. - He all my griefs has taken,
and all my sorrows borne;
In temptation He’s my strong
and mighty tow’r;
I’ve all for Him forsaken,
and all my idols torn
From my heart and now
He keeps me by His pow’r.
Though all the world
forsake me,
and Satan tempt me sore,
Through Jesus I shall safely
reach the goal. - He’ll never, never leave me,
nor yet forsake me here,
While I live by faith
and do His blessed will;
A wall of fire about me,
I’ve nothing now to fear,
From His manna He my
hungry soul shall fill.
Then sweeping up to glory to
see His blessed face,
Where rivers of delight
shall ever roll.
