TOPIC: A Friend Indeed [Open Heaven for Teens 11 April 2023]

MEMORISE: Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:14

READ: Isaiah 41:8

8 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Kings 6-7

MESSAGE

Friends, no matter how sincere they seem, are likely to change. People have different stories of how their very close friends betrayed them. If you have ever experienced this, don’t you think you should try someone more reliable and sincere? God is the best friend to have, just like He was Abraham’s friend according to our Bible text. Your secrets are safe with Him: unlike humans, He would never let you down.

A friendship with God is never one to regret. If you deal with God in all sincerity and honesty, He will do likewise. Knowing that God has made you a friend is the best thing because He will confide in you also and share with you great things.

However, being friends with God does not mean you should shun every other person that extends a hand of friendship to you. Prayerfully select who you allow into your space: You cannot survive in isolation as you will need people to keep you in check.

KEY POINT:

Jesus is a Friend indeed
