TOPIC: The Forbidden (Open Heaven for Teens, 11 February 2025)

MEMORISE: Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18

BIBLE READING: Genesis 39:7-9

7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

8 But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;

9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

MESSAGE

In the world today, immoral sexual practices like fornication, masturbation, prostitution, homosexuality, et cetera are gradually becoming normalised. However, I want you to know that God forbids them all. No matter what the world calls them, the Bible tells us that God considers them immoral and abominable.

One of the ways to avoid the pitfall of sexual sins is to shun seduction by all means, and to do this, you need to discipline your eyes. This is because, there is a link between the eyes and sexual sins. Proverbs 6:25 says, “Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.” Today’s Bible reading also revealed how Potiphar’s wife looked at Joseph with impure intentions. My dear child, when you see someone looking at you in a strange way, run!

In Matthew 5:27-28, Jesus made it clear that whoever looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery. He went further to say, in verses 29-30, that it is better to pluck off your eyes if they will make you sin. Beloved, as you run from those who look lustfully, you too must not look at others lustfully.

KEY POINT
As you flee from those who look at people lustfully, do not look at others lustfully also.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Exodus 32:1-33:23, Matthew 26:14

HYMN 12: Onward Christian Soldiers

1 Onward, Christian
soldiers, marching as to War,
With the cross of Jesus going on before!
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle, see his banner go!

Refrain
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before!

2 At the name of Jesus Satan’s host doth flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise!

3 Like a mighty army moves the church of God:
Brothers, we are treading
where the saints have trod;
We are not divided; all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

4 Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane;
But the church Jesus constant will remain:
Gates of hell can never ‘gainst that church prevail
We have Christ’s own promise and that cannot fail

5 Onward, then, ye people,
join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices,
in the triumph song;
Glory, praise and honour,
unto Christ the King;
This through countless ages,
men and angels sing.
