READ: Philippians 2:12-13

  1. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
  2. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 4-6; Acts 16:16-40

MESSAGE:
Some peoples relationship with God is based on other people’s experiences. When your Christian life becomes a function of the company of your friends: our church, our prayer meeting, our Bible study, my Pastor said et cetera, then there’s a problem. As a child of God, you should have personal encounters with your Father so that you can discover something new from the Bible whenever you study it.

Any teenagers who does not have a personal relationship with God now will become like some adults who run helter-skelter when challenges arise, rather than stand in the place of prayer. They visit prophets who proffer unbiblical solutions to their problems. Sometime ago, a man came to me and said, Sir, I was told you’re a prophet. Please tell me what my future looks like. I said, I am not a prophet but I hear from God once in a while. So, I asked, Are you born again? No sir, he answered. I said, Well, in that case, your future will be terrible. He was shocked until I quickly explained that in Isaiah 3:10-11, the Bible says say to the righteous, it shall be well him and unto the wicked, woe. In actual fact, you don’t need a prophet to tell you anything about your future. What you need is the word of God.

ACTION POINT:

Know God personally.

HYMNS: I AM THINE O LORD

  1. I am Thine, O Lord,
    I have heard Thy voice,
    And it told Thy love to me;
    But I long to rise
    in the arms of faith
    And be closer drawn to Thee.

Chorus:
Draw me nearer,
nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer,
nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

  1. Consecrate me now to Thy
    service, Lord,
    By the pow’r of grace divine;
    Let my soul look up with a
    steadfast hope,
    And my will be lost in Thine.
  2. Oh, the pure delight
    of a single hour
    That before Thy throne I spend,
    When I kneel in prayer,
    and with Thee, my God
    I commune as friend
    with friend!
  3. There are depths of love that I
    cannot know
    Till I cross the narrow sea;
    There are heights of joy
    that I may not reach
    Till I rest in peace with Thee.
