TOPIC: It’s Okay To Cry (Open Heaven for Teens 11 July 2024)

MEMORISE: Jesus wept: John 11:35

READ: John 11:39-44 (KJV)

39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

MESSAGE:

Society makes it look like males are emotionless and can never be weighed down by challenges. However, Jesus showed us a perfect example of a man being emotional when His friend, Lazarus, died. He had visited Lazarus’ sisters earlier in Luke 10:38-42, where they shared the word and ate together. Jesus had a large heart towards everyone, so when Martha didn’t believe that Lazarus could come back to life, He cried.

I remember a time I went to commiserate with a very close friend who lost his father. When I got there, I burst into tears, and people started saying, “Ah! Daddy, you should not be crying. Be strong for us.” I replied, “Please, allow me to cry because even Jesus wept.”

Dear son, the Lord made you a human being with a heart that is full of emotions. It is only wicked and heartless men who kill their emotions. However, when you allow the Holy Spirit to work on your heart, you will be full of compassion towards God, your family, and other people. Never be ashamed to show emotions towards people; bottling up your emotions does not make you a man.

KEY POINT
Don’t just cry; be compassionate and courageous.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 CHRONICLES 11:1-12:18 ACTS 28:1-31

HYMN 35: ‘Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus

1 ‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise;
Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord.”

Jesus, Jesus, how lI trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

2 O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me’
Neath the healing, cleansing Hood!

3 Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

4 I’m so glad I learn’d to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend,
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.
