MEMORISE: Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. Proverbs 22:15
READ: Joshua 24:14-15
- Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
- And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: John 19:1-42, 2 Chronicles 34-36
MESSAGE:
Many parents use love as an excuse for not disciplining their children and as a result, their offspring became thorns in their flesh. For example, in 1 Samuel 2:27-30 , the purpose and plan of God for Elis lineage changed because he refused to discipline his children; in fact, his death and those of his children was a result of his negligence as a father.Dear child, if either of your parents is covering up for you or overlooking your wrongs instead of correcting you, then he or she is setting you up for trouble. You cant do whatever you want, whenever you want and expect to be great. A measure of discipline must be put in place to check and guide you appropriately.
I know that some teenagers do not respect or submit to their parents because they feel those parents are not laying good examples for them to emulate. This is not an excuse. An adage says When you are trained, you need to also train yourself. Emulate Jesus and be trained. However, if you have godly or well-trained parents, you will be doing yourself a whole lot of good by submitting yourself to them so that your future can be bright.
PRAYER POINT
Father, give me a listening ear and an obedient heart that accepts correction, in Jesus name.
