TOPIC: Do Not Engage In Cybercrime [Open Heaven for Teens 12 February 2024]

MEMORISE: The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath – Proverbs 11:23

BIBLE TEXT: Leviticus 19:11,13

11 Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.

13 Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.

MESSAGE:

Technological advancements in the world today allow people to connect swiftly with one another through the internet and other forms of digital media. Many young professionals have become successful using online resources, and many businesses have thrived by using online platforms to promote their goods and services. However, cybercrimes seem to be spreading fast in the world today. Young geniuses with exceptional brains who should be working on bringing solutions to some of the world’s problems are busy designing apps and systems online to defraud people of their hard-earned money. This is bad! I want to believe that you are not involved in such a nefarious act. However, if you are, I urge you to stop it.

Some young people say that they want to enjoy a ‘soft life’ by just sitting behind the computer and making money. This is very good if you are doing a legal remote job. Anything you do online to make money must be legal and must honour God. God hates stealing, and this is the reason He commanded, Thou shalt not steal” (Exodus 20:15).

REFLECTION:

Do not use your digital skills for nefarious activities; glorify God with them.

HYMN 8 – Lead Us Heavenly Father, Lead Us

 Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us
O’er the world’s tempestuous sea;
Guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,
For we have no help but Thee,
Yet possessing every blessing
If our God our Father be.

 Saviour, breathe forgiveness o’er us;
All our weakness Thou dost know;
Thou didst tread this earth before us,
Thou didst feel its keenest woe;
Lone and dreary, faint and weary,
Through the desert Thou didst go.

 Spirit of our God, descending,
Fill our hearts with heavenly joy,
Love with every passion blending,
Pleasure that can never cloy;
Thus provided, pardoned, guided,
Nothing can our peace destroy.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Exodus 34:1-35:9; Matthew 27:15-31
