TOPIC: Favour From Labour [Open Heaven for Teens 13 April 2021]
MEMORISE: Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come. Psalms 102:13
READ: Ecclesiastes 9:11
11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 13-14, Luke 14:1-35
MESSAGE:
To receive favour implies that God stepped into one’s situation and there was a significant difference. Anyone who receives favour gets things he or she didn’t deserve. This reminds me of the story of a student who wrote the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) in Nigeria. By the time the external examiner was marking the script, nothing made sense to him, so, he put two question marks on the first page. After marking, he transferred all the scripts in his possession to another person to record the scores. As fate would have it, the fellow recorded 77 instead of ?? (two question marks). So, the guy who thought he would fail that subject scored an A. This is a rare case of favour. Maybe God saw how hard the student had prepared for the exam, yet, he answered the questions wrongly. God had to devise another means to save him.

If you are lazy don’t expect Gods favour. God, our heavenly Father is hardworking and wont condone laziness. Whenever He sees you in a difficult situation, He will make a way for you provided you have been faithful to Him and diligent in your doings.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, from today, let me enjoy favour in every aspect of my life.
HYMN: All Things Bright And Beautiful
- All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all. - Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colours,
He made their tiny wings. - The purple-headed mountain,
The river running by,
The sunset, and the morning
That brightens up the sky. - The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,
He made them every one. - He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell
How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well.
