TOPIC: The Golden Rule (Open Heaven for Teens 13 April 2024)
MEMORISE: And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. Luke 6:31
READ: John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
MESSAGE
Today’s memory verse, which is popularly called ‘the golden rule’, was given by the Lord Jesus to place emphasis on how to relate with other people. He enjoined His disciples to treat people as they themselves would like to be treated. If you want to be treated nicely, treat others nicely because of the grace that God has given you, so that, regardless of how you feel in any situation, you can offer the same grace that God extends to you daily.
You probably think that sometimes you are nice to some people, and in return, you get hatred from them. Unfortunately, this happens to some teenagers and makes them feel worthless. I must let you know that people will not always treat you the way they want to be treated or the way you want to be treated, but that should not stop you from doing the right thing. Don’t let anyone influence you into behaving badly. Rather, always be kind to the people, whether they are your friends or family, or whether it is convenient or not.
My dear child, loving everyone at all times is a tough task to accomplish, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, you can do it.
REFLECTION
Show an act of kindness to at least one person today.
HYMN 19 – There’s Not A Friend Like The Lowly Jesus
1. There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus–
No, not one! no, not one!
None else could heal all our soul’s diseases–
No, not one! no, not one!
CHORUS:
Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus–
No, not one! no, not one!
2 No friend like Him is so high and holy–
No, not one! no, not one!
And yet no friend is so meek and lowly–
No, not one! no, not one!
3 There’s not an hour that He is not near us –
No, not one! no, not one!
No night so dark but His love can cheer us–
No, not one! no, not one!
4. Did ever saint find this friend forsake him?
No not one! no not one!
Or sinner find that he would not take him?
No not one! no not one!
5. Was e’er a gift like the Savior given?
No, not one! no, not one!
Will He refuse us a home in heaven?
No, not one! no, not one!
