TOPIC: Is Your Heart Hardened? [Open Heaven for Teens 13 January 2023]

MEMORISE: Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief. Proverbs 28:14

READ: 2 Chronicles 34:27

27 Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the LORD.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Genesis 42-43

MESSAGE:

A hardened heart is one that rejects correction and continues to act in ignorance. A child with a hardened heart is proud, stubborn, never listens to corrections and thinks he/she is always right. A hardened heart will not escape the wrath of God.

As a child, if someone older instructs you to do something and you refuse because you feel you have arrived you have a hardened heart. Another example is when your parents scold or correct you on a particular thing. and instead of apologizing and changing, you murmur and walk out on them. That is a hardened heart and God will not be happy with you.

The only way God can be happy with you is if you have a changed heart, a heart that is repentant, teachable, obedient, and humble. This will lead to a change of attitude, without which God cannot answer your prayers.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, give me a heart of flesh.

HYMN 13 – Pass Me Not, O Gentle Saviour

  1. Pass me not, O gentle Saviour,
    Hear my humble cry;
    While on others Thou art calling,
    Do not pass me by.

CHORUS
Saviour Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

  1. Let me, at Thy throne of mercy
    Find a sweet relief;
    Kneeling there in deep contrition,
    Help my unbelief.
  2. Trusting only in Thy merit
    Would I seek Thy face
    Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
    Save me by Thy grace.
  3. Thou, the spring of all my comfort,
    More than life to me.
    Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
    Whom in heaven but Thee
