TOPIC: Lesson From The Fig Tree [Open Heaven for Teens 13 March 2021]

MEMORISE: A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished. Proverbs 22:3

READ: Matthew 21:17-20

  1. And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.
  2. Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
  3. And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
  4. And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Deuteronomy 20-22, Mark 14:26-72

MESSAGE:

The fig tree in today’s Bible text was cursed by Jesus because it appeared as though it would have fruits but had none. It is however said that it was not the season for the fig tree to bear fruits. One major lesson from the fig tree is not to be in a hurry to showcase your talent. I know you have gifts and talents but Ill advise you to spend time in the place of preparation. For instance, if you lay your hands on the sick and he recovers, you should thirst for more of God and His power to do more exploits for Him rather than announce to the whole world what He did through you. When I became born again, I submitted myself to the tutelage of my father in the Lord of blessed memory. I had many weaknesses that God used him to help me deal with. Some of the instructions he gave me then, formed the blueprint for the Redeemed Christian Church of God and that is why we are still growing today.

The teenage stage is the time of self-discovery, therefore, preparation for the future is very important. Don’t be in a hurry to make impact. Don’t run away from the processes God is taking you through now so that you can bear good fruits that will abide in the future.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please give me the grace to submit myself to Your moulding process.

HYMN 3: All To Jesus I Surrender

  1. All to Jesus I surrender,
    All to Him I freely give;
    I will ever love and trust Him,
    In His presence daily live.

Chorus:
I surrender all,
I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Saviour,
I surrender all.

  1. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Humbly at His feet I bow;
    Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
    Take me, Jesus, take me now.
  2. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Lord, I give myself to Thee;
    Fill me with Thy love and power,
    Let Thy blessing fall on me.
  3. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Now I feel the sacred flame;
    O the joy of full salvation!
    Glory, glory to His name!
