TOPIC: Handling Rejection [Open Heaven for Teens 13 September 2021]

MEMORISE: He came unto his own, and his own received him not. John 1:11

READ: Philippians 4:13

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Proverbs 23-24 , 2 Corinthians 5:1-21

MESSAGE:

The word rejection means to dismiss someone’s ideas or feelings. Rejection occurs when a person or group of people exclude an individual and refuse to acknowledge or accept him or her. Rejection hurts and everyone will experience it at one point in life. Even Jesus experienced rejection by His people but He remained focused and fulfilled His purpose on earth. So, you have to be mindful of your reaction when rejected because it can determine the entire course of your future.

When rejected, don’t speak angrily or plan revenge, instead, calm down in a quiet environment. Then, pray to God to give you clarity on why you were rejected. It may be that you need to work on yourself, your approach to matters and people or change your circle of friends. Whichever it is, God will direct you on the right steps to take to avoid a recurrence. However, don’t avoid people (parents, guardians and good friends) who criticize you for a good reason; know that they have your interest at heart.

KEY POINT:
Always remember that God loves you.

HYMNS: BE GLAD IN THE LORD

  1. Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
    All ye that are upright in heart;
    And ye that have made Him your choice,
    Bid sadness and sorrow depart.

CHORUS
Rejoice, rejoice!
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice!
Rejoice, rejoice!
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice!

  1. Be joyful for He is the Lord,
    On earth and in Heaven supreme;
    He fashions and rules by His word;
    The “Mighty” and “Strong” to redeem.
  2. What though in the conflict for right
    Your enemies almost prevail,
    God’s armies, just hid from your sight,
    Are more than the foes which assail.
  3. Though darkness surround you by day,
    Your sky by the night be o’ercast,
    Let nothing your spirit dismay,
    But trust till the danger is past.
  4. Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
    His praises proclaiming in song;
    With harp, and with organ and voice,
    The loud hallelujahs prolong!
