TOPIC: Who To Obey [Open Heaven for Teens 14 April 2021]

MEMORISE: Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Ephesians 6:1

READ: Deuteronomy 28:1-2

  1. And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
  2. And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 15-16, Luke 14:25-35

MESSAGE:
Any teenager who lacks the understanding of the word obedience will be a prey to false doctrines and anyone with wrong motives. For instance, as a teenager, you are supposed to be obedient to your teachers. If a teacher calls you into an office however, locks the door and asks you to undress, should you obey because you have been asked to obey your teachers? No. Who should a teenager obey? Obey God. You are first accountable to God because He is your Creator. He alone knows the future; the instructions He gives are to guide you into your glorious destiny.

The next set of people to obey are your parents. The elders have a saying that no matter how many new clothes a child has, it cannot be as numerous as the rags of an elder. Do you know that the rags in that adage at some point were new expensive clothes? That is to say, no matter how vast you are in modern knowledge and civilization, you can’t outsmart your parents’ experiences. Also, you are to obey those in authority; spiritual leaders, political leaders, school authority and elders within the confines of God’s word.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, help me to be an obedient child.

HYMN: All To Jesus I Surrender

  1. All to Jesus I surrender,
    All to Him I freely give;
    I will ever love and trust Him,

CHORUS
I surrender all, I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

  1. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Humbly at His feet I bow;
    Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
    Take me, Jesus, take me now.
  2. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Lord, I give myself to Thee;
    Fill me with Thy love and power,
    Let Thy blessing fall on me.
  3. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Now I feel the sacred flame;
    O the joy of full salvation!
    Glory, glory to His name!
