TOPIC: Change Through Prayer [Open Heaven for Teens 14 April 2022]

MEMORISE: And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 1 John 5:14

READ: James 5:16-18 (KJV)

  1. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
  2. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
  3. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Luke 14:25-35 , 1 Samuel 15-16

MESSAGE:

Many Christians don’t know that the power to change situations, circumstances, events and the world in general lies in their hands. Some who know this truth hardly put it into action. Some people brag about being empowered over the devil and being seated with Christ in Heavenly places but refuse to act accordingly. If you have a weapon to defend yourself when robbers burgle your house but refuse to use it and get robbed, who is to blame?

When Elijah was confronted with a challenge of changing the three and a half years of draught to fruitfulness, he didnt fold his hands, nag, complain, cry or blame God, rather, he bowed, put his head between his knees and prayed fervently. He kept sending his servant to check for signs of rain as he prayed and by the seventh time, the clouds had gathered. The Bible says Elijah was a man of like passions – that is, he was a human being just like you. God will not intervene in any situation you dont invite Him into. You too can change your situation through prayers. Invite the Lord into your life, family and nation through effectual and fervent prayers today.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, endow me with the power to pray effectively always.

HYMN: Pass Me Not A Gentle Saviour

  1. Pass me not, O gentle Saviour,
    Hear my humble cry,
    While on others Thou art calling,
    Do not pass me by.

CHORUS
Saviour, Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

  1. Let me at Thy throne of mercy
    Find a sweet relief;
    Kneeling there in deep contrition,
    Help my unbelief.
  2. Trusting only in Thy merit,
    Would I seek Thy face;
    Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
    Save me by Thy grace.
  3. Thou the Spring of all my comfort,
    More than life to me,
    Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
    Whom in heaven but Thee?
