TOPIC: Loving God Truly (Open Heaven for Teens 14 January 2025)

MEMORISE: For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 1 John 5:3

7. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

MESSAGE:

Several years ago, an evangelist went to Ghana when it was still called the Gold Coast. He met a woman who was very poor and had only one dress, which she wore every day. She gave her life to Christ, and one day, she dropped a gold coin into the offering basket. The evangelist then told her, “Looking at you, I’m suspecting you stole this gold coin from your master.” The woman replied, “No, I didn’t steal it; I sold myself as a slave, and this is the payment made to me.” That, indeed, is a great demonstration of truly loving God.

Today’s memory verse makes it clear that your obedience to God’s commandments is a proof of your love for Him. If you love Jesus by giving your all to Him and obeying His commandments, God will love you specially, and He will dwell with you (John 14:23).
Loving everyone around us also reflects our genuine love for God, because, in 1 John 4:20, the Bible says, “If a man say, l love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?” My dear child, do you truly love God?

KEY POINT
If you truly love God, you will obey His commandments and love other people.
