MEMORISE: There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up. – Proverbs 21:20
READ: Proverbs 10:4-5
4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
MESSAGE
Saving helps a fellow to control I his or her spending. Your parents might currently be paying your bills, but a time will come when you will have to start settling your bills by yourself. At that time, having some savings will come in handy. The Bible supports the habit of saving as we read in today’s memory verse.
You do not have to start earning before you can save. You can start small by putting a certain amount of your pocket money in a piggy bank, either daily or weekly. Don’t spend all that you receive; rather, cultivate the habit of setting aside some money so that you will not be regarded as ‘foolish’, as stated in today’s memory verse.
Saving is not only for the future or so that you will not go broke; it is a means of honouring God because it shows that you value Him and the resources He has blessed you with. If you do not have a saving culture, please develop the habit of doing so from today.
KEY POINT:
Ensure that you always save part of all that you receive.
HYMN 14 – Standing On The Promises Of God
1. Standing on the promises of Christ our King,
Thro’ eternal ages let His praises ring:
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
CHORUS
Standing, Standing,
Standing on the promises of
God my Saviour
Standing, Standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
2 Standing on the promises that can-not fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail
By the living word of Go I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
3. Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.
4. Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
