BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Isaiah 53-55 , 1 Thessalonians 2:1-20

MESSAGE:

I heard about a young lady who always complains anytime there’s work to do; her usual chant is I’m tired. Why would someone complain of tiredness as early as 9:00 a.m.? Any fellow who sleeps more than eight hours daily on the average is a sluggard. He/she will be pegged at the same spot because tasks he/she would have done to contribute to his or her growth would be left undone at the end of the day.

Sleep is meant to revive the hardworking so that he can return to work renewed but to a sluggard, sleep is an end to everything. He loves and lives to sleep. So, if you have the habit of sleeping for long hours, it is time to change. You can do this by disciplining yourself; define your sleeping hours and have a daily plan of the activities you need to do. Thereafter, stick to the plan. However, whenever you feel tired or stressed as a result of many activities which can put a strain on your health, please take enough rest so that you don’t break down.

KEY POINT:
Sleep is not an end, rather a means to get strength.

HYMN: I Am Thine O Lord

  1. I am Thine, O Lord,
    I have heard Thy voice,
    And it told Thy love to me;
    But I long to rise
    in the arms of faith
    And be closer drawn to Thee.

CHORUS
Draw me nearer,
nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer,
nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

  1. Consecrate me now to Thy
    service, Lord,
    By the pow’r of grace divine;
    Let my soul look up with a
    steadfast hope,
    And my will be lost in Thine.
  2. Oh, the pure delight
    of a single hour
    That before Thy throne I spend,
    When I kneel in prayer,
    and with Thee, my God
    I commune as friend
    with friend!
  3. There are depths of love that I
    cannot know
    Till I cross the narrow sea;
    There are heights of joy
    that I may not reach
    Till I rest in peace with Thee.
