TOPIC: Abba Father [Open Heaven for Teens 15 April 2023]

MEMORISE: For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Romans 8:15

READ: Romans 8:14-17

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Kings 16-18

MESSAGE

There are different levels of relationship one could have with God. Each of these levels is reflected in the name you call Him. Truly He is your God, Lord, and Master. If you area true child of God and consider Him your Father, you can call Him Father or Daddy. However, according to the memory verse, there is a level of relationship you can have with God that would cause you to cry Abba Father.

“Abba Father” is an endearment for God, and only people who have an intimate relationship with Him can use it with ease. Calling God “Abba Father”, signifies that you know Him well enough to see Him in that light. To cry “Abba Father”, you must know God: who He is, what He has, and what He can do. Only His heirs have the license to call Him that.

Beloved, cultivate an intimate relationship with God so you can enjoy the blessings that come with calling God “Abba Father” if that is not who He is to you yet.

REFLECTION:

Are you intimate enough with God to cry “Abba Father”?

HYMN 11 – O Lord My God! When Am In Awesome Wonder,

  1. O lord my God!
    When am in awesome wonder,
    consider all
    The worlds thy hands hath made
    I see the stars,
    I heard the rolling thunder
    Thy pow’r thro’ out
    The universe displayed
  2. And when I think
    That God, His Son not sparing
    Sent Him to die
    I scare can take it in;
    That on the cross,
    My burden gladly bearing,
    He bled and died
    To take away my sin.
  3. Then through the woods
    And forest glads I wander,
    And hear the birds
    Sing sweetly in the tress;
    When I look down
    From lofty mountain grandeur
    And hear the brook
    And feel the gentle breeze;
  4. When Christ shall come
    With shout of acclamation
    And take me home,
    What joy shall fill my heart!
    Then I shall bow
    In humble adoration
    And there proclaim,
    My God how great Thou art!
