TOPIC: Peculiar Uniqueness [Open Heaven for Teens 16 April 2021]
MEMORISE: But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 2 Timothy 2:20
READ: 1 Peter 2:9
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 19-21, Luke 15:11-32
MESSAGE:
The beauty of life is seen in the variety of men. If we were all the same, the earth would be very boring. God created us differently to complement one another. For instance, a banker manages your money in your bank account, a teacher trains on a subject, a farmer cultivates food, a tailor designs and makes clothes. These professionals need one another due to their individual peculiarities in order to make the world a better place.
Unfortunately, many teenagers, rather than embrace their uniqueness, give excuses such as: My ability isn’t enough, I can’t make it, you’re better than I am, I don’t have any connection, this task is too difficult, I’m too fat, et cetera. If you are one of those who use any of these degrading comments, you had better stop because you will not fulfill God’s purpose for your life with that kind of mentality. Embrace your uniqueness; don’t wish to be another person, instead, focus on your strengths and get better at your weaknesses. Your existence shows how important you are in Gods agenda for mankind.
PRAYER POINT:
Lord, help me to use my potential to affect my world positively.
HYMN: IN CHRIST ALONE
- In Christ alone, my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone; this solid ground;
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm;
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I’ll stand - In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin, on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live, - There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ - No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.
