TOPIC: How To Pray (4) (Open Heaven for Teens 16 August 2024)

MEMORISE: If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us, 1 John 1:8

READ: Luke 11:4, 1 Timothy 2:1-4

Luke 11:4
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

1 Timothy 2:1-4
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

MESSAGE:

Today, I will be talking about the next two steps to take while praying. They are: Confession of sins and Intercession.

Confession of sins simply means asking God to forgive you of your sins. It also entails repenting of those sins. The way to go about this is to mention the sins you can remember one after the other and ask God to forgive you. Confession of sins requires sincerity. For instance, if you told a lie to a friend earlier, you can simply say, “God, I told a lie to my friend (mention the person’s name); please forgive me, have mercy on me.” Then, go ahead to ask for forgiveness for the sins you are not even aware of.

The next thing to do after confessing your sins is intercession; this entails praying for others. God expects you to pray for others before you pray for yourself. Thus, pray for your country and her leaders, mention the issues facing your country one after the other, and ask God to intervene. Thereafter, pray for your friends, your church, Christians all over the world, particularly the ones facing persecution, and your relatives, especially the ones that are not saved. Mention their names and their peculiar issues to God. With all these, you will spend more than an hour in prayers.

KEY POINT
In the place of prayer, put others first.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Nehemiah 11:1-12:26; 1 Corinthians 10:14-33

HYMN 31, Wonderful Story Of Love

  1. Wonderful story of love!
    Tell it to me again;
    Wonderful story of love!
    Wake the immortal strain.
    Angels with rapture announce it,
    Shepherds with wonder receive it;
    Sinner, O won’t you believe it?
    Wonderful story of love!

Refrain:
Wonderful! Wonderful!
Wonderful story,
Wonderful story of love!

  1. Wonderful story of love!
    Though you are far away;
    Wonderful story of love!
    Still he doth call today.
    Calling from Calvary’s mountain,
    Down from the crystal bright fountain,
    E’en from the dawn of creation;
    Wonderful story of love!
  2. Wonderful story of love!
    Jesus provides a rest;
    Wonderful story of love!
    For all the pure and blest;
    Rest in those mansions above us,
    With those who’ve gone on before us,
    Singing the rapturous chorus;
    Wonderful story of love!
