TOPIC: Age And God’s Call [Open Heaven for Teens 17 October 2022]
MEMORISE: Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Jeremiah 1:5
READ: 1 Samuel 3:1-4
- And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
- And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;
- And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
- That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-28, Isaiah 62-64
MESSAGE:
God does not necessarily call a person based on his age or maturity, but on his readiness to serve. This He knows by looking at the heart of the fellow. Besides, its a lot easier and more fulfilling to give an assignment to a young person who has the vigour to pursue it and is ready to follow through until the desired result is achieved. This is not to say God does not use the elderly to achieve Kingdom goals. He does.
David was the youngest of Jesses eight sons and was anointed as King when he was young; Moses was his mothers last child and at the age of 80, he was chosen to deliver Israel from slavery. Similarly, I am the last son of my mother but God called me at age 39 to resign from my secular job and become a pastor. You’ll realize that the time or age you were called doesn’t really matter; what’s important is to answer the call of God on your life into whichever field He wants you to serve Him and humanity.
In addition, the call of God is not restricted to spiritual ministry. Many Christians are called into different professions where they can use their skills and grace to impact lives positively and shine the light of Christ. Wherever God wants you to serve Him, make sure you do it judiciously and win souls for His kingdom while at it.
KEY POINT:
God can use you too

HYMN: I AM THINE O LORD
- I am Thine, O Lord,
I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise
in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
CHORUS
Draw me nearer,
nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer,
nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
- Consecrate me now to
Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up
with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine. - Oh, the pure delight
of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer,
and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend! - There are depths of love
that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy
that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
