TOPIC: Against The Rainy Day [Open Heaven for Teens 18 April 2021]

MEMORISE: Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. Ecclesiastes 11:1

READ: Ecclesiastes 11:1-4

  1. Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.
  2. Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.
  3. If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.
  4. He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 25-26, Luke 16:19-31

MESSAGE:
Having a good saving culture will make you become a financially responsible adult. Saving from any money that comes into your hand will help meet some personal needs without putting pressure on your parents. When our children were younger, we taught them how to save from their pocket money in order to pay their tithes and offerings, restock their finished provisions and school stationery. This attitude paid off for them in their respective businesses and financial obligations many years after.

Another benefit of saving is that youll develop the right attitude towards money when you start earning an income. A wise teenager will convince his or her parents to buy him moderately affordable things and encourage them to help him/her save some money in a bank account rather than request for clothes worth the monthly salary of a civil servant. In my days, I made wooden piggy banks for my children where they saved a specific amount of money daily. At the end of each year, we opened the piggy bank to see how much they saved. So, if you start saving a N100 daily, by next year, you would have #36,500. Start today.

ACTION POINT:

Rather than spend on frivolities, save.

HYMN: All To Jesus I Surrender

  1. All to Jesus I surrender,
    All to Him I freely give;
    I will ever love and trust Him,
    In His presence daily live.

CHORUS
I surrender all, I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

  1. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Humbly at His feet I bow;
    Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
    Take me, Jesus, take me now.
  2. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Lord, I give myself to Thee;
    Fill me with Thy love and power,
    Let Thy blessing fall on me.
  3. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Now I feel the sacred flame;
    O the joy of full salvation!
    Glory, glory to His name!
