TOPIC: Good Success [Open Heaven for Teens 18 December 2022]
MEMORISE: This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8
READ: Proverbs 1:29-31
- For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
- They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
- Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Revelation 9:1-21, Jonah 1-4
MESSAGE:
Our memory verse for today makes us understand that there is good success and if so, then, there is also the bad. What then is the difference between good and bad success? The answer can be found in that same memory verse; it says, This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth. In other words, any success outside the book of the law which is our Bible, is not good. Furthermore, any success gotten through crooked means, no matter how beautiful or good it looks, is not good and the end is always bad. This is why you should not envy anyone, especially those whose sources of wealth you cannot ascertain.
For you to experience good success in your academics or endeavours, you must be born again. You must accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and then study the word of God, which is the manual from Heaven. You must meditate on the word day and night, living by it. God will then begin to show you how to make good success. The success of a Christian is tied to studying and absolute obedience to the word of God.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, as I study and obey Your word, please grant me good success in all that I do, in Jesus name.
HYMN: When Upon Life’s Billows You Are Tempest-Tossed
- When upon life’s billows
you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged,
thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings,
name them one by one,
And it will surprise you
what the Lord hath done.
CHORUS
Count your blessings,
name them one by one;
Count your blessings,
see what God hath done;
Count your blessings,
name them one by one;
Count your many blessings,
see what God hath done.
- Are you ever burdened
with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy
you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings,
ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing
as the days go by. - When you look at others
with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised
you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings,
money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven,
nor your home on high. - So, amid the conflict,
whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged,
God is over all;
Count your many blessings,
angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you
to your journey’s end.
