READ: 2 Chronicles 27:1-7

  1. Jotham was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Jerushah, the daughter of Zadok.
  2. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Uzziah did: howbeit he entered not into the temple of the LORD. And the people did yet corruptly.
  3. He built the high gate of the house of the LORD, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.
  4. Moreover he built cities in the mountains of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers.
  5. He fought also with the king of the Ammonites, and prevailed against them. And the children of Ammon gave him the same year an hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. So much did the children of Ammon pay unto him, both the second year, and the third.
  6. So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God.
  7. Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

MESSAGE:

Jotham was the son of King Uzziah and the 11th king of Judah. He became king at 25 years old and reigned for 16 years. Jotham’s life was a testament to the power of faith in God and the blessings that come from following His ways.

In today’s Bible reading, Jotham did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father, King Uzziah, had done. He followed the ways of the Lord and worked to strengthen the defences of Jerusalem against the threat of invasion. Jotham did not repeat his father’s mistake of presumptuously entering the temple. As a result, the kingdom enjoyed peace and prosperity during his reign.

Jotham’s faith in God and obedience to His commands gave him the strength to overcome his enemies and succeed in all he did. Beloved, when you trust in God and follow His ways, you can be confident that He will guide and bless you with success and prosperity.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please help me to acknowledge You in all my ways, in Jesus’ name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
Habakkuk 1:1-3:19, Revelation 9:1-21

HYMN 7: I Am Thine O Lord.

  1. I am Thine, O Lord
    I have heard Thy voice,
    And it told Thy love to me;
    But I long to rise in the arms of faith
    And be closer drawn to Thee.

Chorus:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died.
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessd Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

  1. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
    By the power of grace divine;
    Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
    And my will be lost in Thine.
  2. Oh the pure delight of a single hour
    That before Thy throne I spend,
    When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
    I commune as friend with friend!
  3. There are depths of love
    that I cannot know
    Till I cross the narrow sea;
    There are heights of joy
    that I may not reach
    Till I rest in peace with Thee.
