TOPIC: Subdue The Flesh [Open Heaven for Teens 18 July 2022]
MEMORISE: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24
READ: Galatians 6:7-8
- Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
- For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Acts 20:17-38, Psalms 25-27
MESSAGE:
Today’s Bible reading explains how one can sow in the flesh and spirit. A practical example of sowing in the flesh is engaging in sin but when the fellow starts to live holy, he/she begins to sow in the spirit and subdue the flesh.
However, this entails a lot of battle because the flesh always opposes the spirit. So, when a new government comes into the life of a sinner, his flesh will fight it. For example when a new convert is not yet grounded in the faith, Satan and his hosts will try to make him/her fall back by bringing temptations on his/her way.
One way to subdue the flesh is to understand the constant battle that goes on between it and the spirit. Also, you should know the activities that empower the body above the spirit. Generally, any sinful habit will empower the flesh. Not engaging in spiritual exercises will also feed the flesh. Therefore, feed the spirit by fasting, praying in the Spirit always, studying the word of God and living a holy life so that it can always win. Never disconnect from the Holy Spirit so that He can instruct you on what to do from time to time.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please give me the grace to mortify my flesh and feed my spirit daily.

HYMN: I Am Thine O Lord
- I am Thine, O Lord,
I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise
in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
CHORUS
Draw me nearer,
nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer,
nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
- Consecrate me now to
Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up
with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine. - Oh, the pure delight
of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer,
and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend! - There are depths of love
that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy
that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
