TOPIC: Wheat Among Tares [Open Heaven for Teens 18 March 2023]

MEMORISE: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

READ: Matthew 13:24-30

24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 14-16

MESSAGE

This parable speaks so much about the forgiveness and patience of God. When I was a sinner, I disrespected God a lot. In fact, I used to tell people that if I were God, I would not have saved Adeboye because I was a really bad boy. However, God in His mercy, gave me a second chance and saved me from hell. So, if you are reading this and you have not yet given your life to Christ, you need to do that right now because the next minute may be too late.

You’re simply enjoying the patience of God not to uproot you – a weed from among His children, the wheat. He is offering you another chance to repent before the day of reckoning comes.

This parable also teaches us that we are presently living in the time of grace in which God allows weeds and wheat to grow together. I want you to know that God’s word will come to pass, so when the time of judgement comes, He will separate His true children (the wheat) and the disobedient ones (the tares/weeds). It’s time to look inwards and stop judging other people for their sins.

REFLECTION:

Are you a weed or an ear of wheat?

HYMN 3 – All To Jesus I Surrender

  1. All to Jesus I surrender
    All to Him I freely give;
    I will ever love and trust Him,
    In His presence daily live.

CHORUS
I surrender all.
I surrender all:
All to Thee,
my blessed saviour
I surrender all

  1. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Humbly at His feet I bow;
    Worldly pleasures all forsaken.
    Take me, Jesus, take me now.
  2. All to Jesus I surrender.
    Lord, I give myself to Thee;
    Fill me with Thy love and power,
    Let Thy blessing fall on me.
  3. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Now I feel the sacred flame
    O the joy of full salvation!
    Glory, glory to His name!
