MESSAGE:

Borrowing money at your level is a result of lack of contentment and prioritization. If you receive pocket money from your parents or guardian, you are very fortunate. In my days, there was nothing like that, once you eat at home, you go to school and come back home before you have another meal. Although I know things are different now, yet, it is not wise to put yourself under financial stress because you want to acquire things on impulse or that you don’t need.

Your pocket money is your first taste of financial responsibility; to be debt-free, you must learn how to draw up a budget to help you spend wisely each month especially if you’re in the higher institution. Your budget should include your needs in order of importance. Thereafter, follow the budget strictly and don’t forget to save some money. When our children were younger, we taught them how to spend within the means of their pocket money and if they needed anything extra, they had to work for it. If you cultivate this habit of spending within your means now, you will become a wise and disciplined adult.

ACTION POINT:

Have a monthly budget and stick to it.

HYMNS: Let Us With A Gladsome Mind

  1. Let us with a gladsome mind
    Praise the Lord for He is kind;
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
  2. Let us sound
    His name abroad,
    For of gods He is the God;
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
  3. He, with all-commanding
    might,
    Filled the new-made
    world with light;
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
  4. All things living He doth feed,
    His full hand supplies
    their need;
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
  5. He His chosen race did bless
    In the wasteful wilderness;
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
  6. He hath with a piteous eye
    Looked upon our misery;
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
  7. Let us with a gladsome mind
    Praise the Lord for He is kind.
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
