TOPIC: Love Your Neighbour [Open Heaven for Teens 19 February 2024]

MEMORISE: And the second is like, namely this. Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Mark 12:31

BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 25:35-40

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

MESSAGE:

Loving your neighbour is not just a feel-good notion or a nice idea, Prather, it is a command from God, a call to action, and a duty that you must fulfill. You must love your neighbours selflessly, unconditionally, and sacrificially. This kind of love goes beyond mere words; it requires us to put our love into action by serving, helping, and being there for those in need. Just like today’s Bible reading tells us, when you love your neighbours, you are loving Jesus Himself, and this truly pleases God.

It is important to love your neighbours because when you love them, you show the love of Christ to the world. You become an ambassador of God’s love, spreading the message of hope and peace to those around you. As you show love to your neighbours, you will also be blessed.

Note that your neighbour is not restricted to only those living beside or around you. Anyone in need of your help is your neighbour, therefore, you should not ignore the needs of the people who are not living close to you.

KEY POINT

Love your neighbour as yourself.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Leviticus 7:28-9:6 Mark 3:31-4:25

HYMN 19: There’s Not A Friend Like The Lowly Jesus
1. There’s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one! no, not one!
None else could heal all our souls’ diseases,
No, not one! no, not one!

Refrain:
Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus, No, not one! no, not one!

2 No friend like Him is so high and holy,
No, not one! no, not one!
And yet no friend is so meek and lowly,
No, not one! no, not one!

3. There’s not an hour that He is not near us,
No, not one! no, not one!
No night so dark but His love can cheer us,
No, not one! no, not one!

4. Did ever saint find this Friend forsake him?
No, not one! no, not one!
Or sinner find that He would not take him?
No, not one! no, not one!

5. Was e’er a gift like the Saviour given?
No, not one! no, not one!
Will He refuse us a home in heaven?
No, not one! no, not one!
