TOPIC: Be Watchful (Open Heaven for Teens 19 October 2024)

MEMORISE ” Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8

READ: Matthew 24:40-42

40. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
41. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
42. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

MESSAGE:

To be watchful is to watch over someone or wait earnestly for a significant event. There are some things that the Bible enjoins Christians to watch out for, such as false prophets and doctrines, the anti-Christ, and the Lord’s second coming. God expects every one of His children to be vigilant because our journey to heaven is peculiar.

Many things attempt to derail us from God’s straight path, but we must remain watchful and faithful in order to get the crown of life as promised. When a soldier is in battle, his senses and the other parts of his body are alert because the enemies’ attacks might come suddenly from any angle. His alertness helps him make the right moves promptly to dodge bullets and launch attacks of his own. Therefore, as a Christian, you must be alert and not asleep in your walk with God. Pray always, fast often, give to the poor, live a holy life, and don’t be distracted by anyone so that your instincts will remain sharp on the battleground called life. You will overcome, in Jesus’ name.
