MEMORISE: Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. 1 Corinthians 15:33

BIBLE TEXT: Ephesians 4:29-30

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

MESSAGE:

An adage says: “Birds of then same feathers flock together”. Therefore, the kind of friends you keep says a lot about your beliefs and values. If your friends smoke or commit cybercrimes but you don’t, you are not any better. This is because studies have shown that there are some attitudes that are imbibed unconsciously or by default from the people closest to a fellow. This is also affirmed by our memory verse for today.

It is not difficult to know the kind of pals you keep. If as a boy, all you discuss is how to ride the latest cars, make money, test the latest drug or weed, woo the finest girls, et cetera, you are in the company of bad boys. If as a girl, your discussion centres on how to get boys or married men to woo you, how to get the latest phone, sneaking out for parties, lying to your parents guardians, or getting the latest clothes, you are in the wrong company.

My child, friendship of this sort will derail you from achieving your goals in life as well as distort your future and your relationship with God.

ACTION POINT

Examine your friends today and change them if they are not good.

HYMN 18 – When We Walk With The Lord

  1. When we walk with the Lord,
In the light of His word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will
    He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

CHORUS

Trust and obey!
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

  1. Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt nor a fear,
Not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
  2. Not a burden we bear,
    Not a sorrow we share
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey
  3. But we never can prove
    The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay,
    For the favour He shows
    And the joy He bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey.
  4. Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way,
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.
