TOPIC: The State Of The Heart [Open Heaven for Teens 20 April 2021]
MEMORISE: Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. Psalms 119:2
READ: 1 Samuel 16:4-7
- And Samuel did that which the LORD spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably?
- And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.
- And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD’s anointed is before him.
- But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 30-31, Luke 17:20-37

MESSAGE:
The heart is the seat of mans actions, so also, the content of a mans heart can be known through his actions. This is why the state of ones heart is very important in walking with God. Romans 10:10a says: “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness” In Daniel 4:30-33, King Nebuchadnezzar became proud and God gave him the heart of a beast. For seven years, he behaved like a beast until God restored him. God is interested in the state of your heart because He knows that if your heart is perfect, you will be steadfast before Him. King David understood this, no wonder he asked God to recreate his heart after he committed adultery with Bathsheba and killed her husband (Psalms 51:1).
To walk with God blamelessly, you need a right heart. You can only have a right heart when you fill your heart with the word of God (Psalms 119:11).
KEY POINT:
How much of the word of God do you know?
HYMN: ALL TO JESUS I SURRENDER
- All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.
CHORUS
I surrender all, I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.
- All to Jesus I surrender,
Humbly at His feet I bow;
Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
Take me, Jesus, take me now. - All to Jesus I surrender,
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing fall on me. - All to Jesus I surrender,
Now I feel the sacred flame;
O the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory to His name!
