TOPIC: Control Your Eyes (Open Heaven for Teens 20 April 2024)

MEMORISE: I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? Job 31:1

READ: Matthew 6:22-23

22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

MESSAGE

The eyes are a doorway to the mind, and whatever a person sees and continually thinks about, he or she will eventually do. To live a sanctified and pure life, you must make a conscious effort to guard your eyes intentionally. This will influence the types of content you watch, books you read, and internet sites you visit. It will also influence how you look at the opposite sex like Job said in today’s memory verse. I remember a country I once visited where their women dressed carelessly. I was lodged in a hotel, so I stayed indoors often, but whenever I stepped out, I literally walked with my head bowed because I didn’t want to be tempted.

The reason we have an increasing rate of sexual immorality around the world today is because of access to unholy content that people view in books, on TV, and on the internet. As a result, they lack self- control and eventually allow darkness into their lives.
My dear child, the best way to guard your eyes is by continually engaging with the word of God and godly materials. Don’t forget to also ask the Holy Spirit for His help.

KEY POINT

When you guard your eyes, you guard your life.

HYMN 5 – Jesus, My Lord, My God, My All

1. Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all,
Hear me, blest Saviour, when I call;
Hear me, and from Thy dwelling place
Pour down the riches of Thy grace;

CHORUS
Jesus, my Lord, I Thee adore;
Oh make me love Thee more and more.

2. Jesus, too late I Thee have sought;
How can I love Thee as I ought?
And how extol Thy matchless fame,
The glorious beauty of Thy name?

3. Jesus, what didst Thou find in me,
That Thou hast dealt so lovingly?
How great the joy that Thou hast brought
So far exceeding hope or thought!

4. Jesus, of Thee shall be my song,
To Thee my heart and soul belong;
All that I have or am is Thine,
And Thou, blest Saviour, Thou art mine.
