TOPIC: Sow Seeds [Open Heaven for Teens 20 June 2022]

MEMORISE: In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good. Ecclesiastes 11:6

READ: Genesis 26:12-15

  1. Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.
  2. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:
  3. For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.
  4. For all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Acts 4:23-37, Nehemiah 12-13

MESSAGE:

Isaac was living in a place that had experienced famine. His fathers wells had been blocked, yet he sowed in the land. He didn’t allow the failures and opposition of the past to determine his action in the present. This is the mistake many believers make today. When in serious financial crises, they hoard things, refuse to sow or give to God and people because they want to save or be financially smart.

I remember when we were building the first auditorium in the Redemption Camp several years ago; prayed for a major financial breakthrough to happen because we were cash-strapped and had limited time before the programme. Instead of God sending me a helper, He instructed me to give a violent offering and, as difficult as it was, I obeyed. This is because I was sure it was God speaking, even though it didn’t make sense to me. My obedience brought about the desired breakthrough.

Sowing is a big secret of good success and it must be done on fertile ground, hence the need to be careful about where to sow. When you sow as expected in faith and on the right ground, God will grant you a breakthrough.

KEY POINT

Allow yourself to be guided by the Holy Spirit on where and how to sow your seeds.

HYMN 10: O GOD OUR HELP IN AGES PAST

  1. O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
our shelter from the stormy blast,
    and our eternal home;
  2. Under the shadow of Thy throne
    Thy saints have dwelt secure.
    Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
    and our defence is sure.
  3. Before the hills in order stood,
    or earth received her frame,
    from everlasting Thou art God,
    to endless years the same.
  4. A thousand ages in Thy sight
    are like an evening gone,
short as the watch that ends the
    night
    before the rising sun.
  5. Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
    bears all its sons away.
They fly forgotten, as a dream
    dies at the opening day.
  6. O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
be Thou our guard while troubles last,
    and our eternal home.
