TOPIC: Freedom From Depression [Open Heaven for Teens 20 March 2023]

MEMORISE: I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. John 14:18

READ: 1 Peter 1:1-9 (KJV)

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 20-21

MESSAGE

Once in a while, Christians also get depressed, mostly when life challenges make them lose sight of how great God is and how much He loves them.

What a depressed fellow really needs is joy, which is the tested and surest way out of depression, not food, alcohol, or suicide. Only God can give joy. Happiness is temporary, and it is dependent on what happens in your life. If you are born again, God will anoint you with the oil of gladness, which will give no room for depression.

My beloved child, never forget the love of God towards you. That situation you are going through should not make you forget He loves you. When the issues of life seem to weigh you down, instead of getting moody, sing songs to God; doing this will bring a feeling of joy to your heart and that issue will not have a hold on your joy if you don’t stop singing.

PRAYER POINT

Father, let my joy be full in Jesus ‘name

HYMN 19: Jesus Loves Me! This I Know

  1. Jesus loves me! this I know,
    For the Bible tells me so;
    Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.

CHORUS
Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,
The Bible tells me so.

  1. Jesus loves me He who died,
    Heaven’s gate to open wide,
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.
  2. Jesus loves me, loves me still,
Tho’ I’m very weak and ill
From His shining throne on high
He will watch me where I lie.
  3. Jesus loves me He will stay
Close beside me all the way,
If I love Him when I die
He will take me home on high.
