TOPIC: Don’t Waste God’s Grace [Open Heaven for Teens 20 May 2023]
MEMORISE: We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. 2 Corinthians 6:1
READ: Genesis 6:1-8
1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
MESSAGE
Noah’s story in today’s Bible reading is a typical example of the grace of God at work in someone’s life. If you don’t understand how important God’s grace is in an individual’s life, consider that when the entire world was condemned to destruction by divine verdict, Noah had a special kind of grace that spared him and his family. In the world we live in today it is only wise to earnestly seek this kind of grace from God.
However, if you have received this kind of God’s grace, please do not take it for granted. Don’t be like Samson, who thought he would rise and go out as at other times when he was chained by the Philistines (Judges 16:20). He didn’t know that he had lost his strength. The memory verse advises that you should not receive the grace of God in vain. As a child of God, it is a great waste if after receiving God’s grace, you end up missing Heaven.
KEY POINT
If you have received the grace of God, work with it.
HYMN 5 – Take My Life And Let It Be
- Take my life and let it
Consecrated Lord to Thee
Take my moment and my days
Let them flow ceaseless praise. - Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for thee - Take my voice and let me sing
Always only for my king;
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee. - Take my sliver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as thou shalt choose. - Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall no longer mine:
Take my heart, it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne, - Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store;
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for thee
