TOPIC: Principled? [Open Heaven for Teens 20 November 2021]

MEMORISE: For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:22

READ: Proverbs 4:20-22

  1. My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
  2. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
  3. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 22-23, James 2:1-26

MESSAGE:

Principles are general rules on which a skill, science or belief is based; they are also the foundation of good behaviour. They give directions on how a fellow should behave. One without principles is like a moving car without functioning brakes. A principled teenager is a person of reliable character. For instance, a teenager who likes to sit at the front row in the classroom or lecture theatre in order not to miss out on any part of the lecture would likely develop the principle of “no examination malpractice”. He/she would prefer to teach anyone outside the class and organize extra tutorial classes if need be.

Unfortunately, today, many Christians don’t have principles. They live their lives anyhow; little wonder they constantly make errors. A wise man once said if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. Develop good principles on character, association, time management, work et cetera and stick to them because they will help you to live a fulfilled life.

KEY POINT:

A life without principles is like a moving car without brakes.

HYMN: Let Others See Jesus In You

  1. While passing through this world of sin,
    And others your life shall view,
    Be clean and pure without, within,
    Let others see Jesus in you.

CHORUS
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you;
Keep telling the story,
be faithful and true,
Let others see Jesus in you.

  1. Your life’s a book before their eyes,
    They’re reading it through and through;
    Say, does it point them to the skies,
    Do others see Jesus in you?
  2. What joy ’twill be at set of sun,
    In mansions beyond the blue,
    To find some souls
    that you have won;
    Let others see Jesus in you.
  3. Then live for Christ both
    day and night,
    Be faithful, be brave, and true,
    And lead the lost to life and light;
    Let others see Jesus in you.
