TOPIC: Cut It Off [Open Heaven for Teens 20 November 2022]

MEMORISE: And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. Matthew 5:29

READ: Matthew 5:28-30

  1. But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
  2. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
  3. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: James 2:1-26, Ezekiel 22-23

MESSAGE:

It is very important to completely deal with one’s weakness because to the devil, a person’s weakness is a bait to get the fellow whenever he wants. For instance, the weakness of the eagle is the hen. When hunters want to catch an eagle, they tie a big hen in a place where the eagle can easily spot it. When the eagle is flying and sees the hen, it rejoices, then flies down to pick the hen which, unknown to the eagle, would have been tied down. When the eagle carries the hen and attempts to fly with it, it pulls hard, triggering a heavy basket that falls over, trapping it there until the hunter comes. No wonder the Bible says if your eye is your weakness, pluck it out.

Dealing with your weakness will take painstaking conscious effort from you. For instance, if lying is your weakness, consciously and consistently tell the truth without minding its consequences. When you have mastered the act of telling the truth, never relent. If Moses had completely dealt with anger, he would not have missed the Promised Land. Also, Samson’s weakness for women was what landed him in trouble. Don’t be a prey to the devil through your weakness, deal with it today.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please help me to consciously deal with all my weaknesses today.

HYMN: Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus

  1. Stand up! stand up for Jesus
    Ye soldiers of the cross!
    Lift high His royal banner;
    It must not suffer loss.
    From vict’ry unto vict’ry
    His army shall He lead,
    Till every foe is vanquished,
    And Christ is Lord indeed.
  2. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    the trumpet call obey;
    Forth to the mighty conflict,
    In this His glorious day;
    Ye that are men now serve Him
    against unnumbered foes;
    let courage rise with danger,
    and strength to strength oppose.
  3. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    stand in his strength alone;
    The arm of flesh will fail you,
    Ye dare not trust your own:
    put on the gospel armour,
    And watching unto prayer;
    where duty calls, or danger,
    be never wanting there.
  4. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    The strife will not be long;
    this day the noise of battle,
    the next the victor’s song:
    to him that overcometh
    A crown of life shall be;
    He with the King of glory
    shall reign eternally.
