MEMORISE: But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Daniel 1:8
READ: Daniel 1:8-12
- But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
- Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
- And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.
- Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
- Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Jeremiah 3-4, 2 Thessalonians 3:1-18
MESSAGE:
Many teenagers use their location as an excuse not to live holy. They say they cannot live holy because they live in areas where touts, worldly music and slangs prevail. Do you know that Daniel was in a worse situation? He was a slave compelled to live according to the dictates of a strange king in a strange land but he chose to stay upright. When the people plotted against him by encouraging King Nebuchadnezzar to sign a decree that no one should pray to any other God apart from him, Daniel still chose God above the government. The devil would have used the decree to break his relationship with God, but he refused to be caught off-guard. He didn’t stop praying as it was his custom to do so twice daily with his windows open.
If this were to happen to some teenagers, they would use it as an excuse to stop serving God. They would say since God said we should obey constituted authority, I wont pray again. Do you know that Satan will set people and things to break your relationship with God? Please don’t fall for it.
KEY POINT:
Choose God above all.
HYMNS: I Am Thine O Lord
- I am Thine, O Lord,
I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise
in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
CHORUS
Draw me nearer,
nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer,
nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
- Consecrate me now to Thy
service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a
steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine. - Oh, the pure delight
of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer,
and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend
with friend! - There are depths of love that I
cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy
that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
