MEMORISE: But ye have not so learned Christ;
Ephesians 4:20

READ: Matthew 21:28-30

  1. But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
  2. He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
  3. And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 24-26, James 3:1-18

MESSAGE:

Some Christians are so quick to make vows when they know they Shave no means to fulfil it. A preacher could come to your school and after his sermon, asks that you support the work of the ministry with N5,000. You may know you can’t afford it, but because you want to appear as a giver, you don’t complain that you were exploited by a man of God when the blessings don’t come to you physically because your motive for giving was wrong.

In the house of God, some people sign up as workers when the pastor or fellowship leader calls for volunteers but as soon as they resume in their departments, they are hardly available to function, always giving one excuse or the other. However, if today, the pastor announces that the General Overseer would be visiting their church tomorrow, they would be there to form ‘activity’.

These people are only deceiving themselves; they make up the number but heaven already recognizes the committed ones who are serving God in Spirit and truth. Serve God whether someone is watching you or not.

KEY POINT:
Your service in God’s house is not unto man but unto God who rewards those who serve Him diligently.

HYMN: IN CHRIST ALONE

  1. In Christ alone my hope is found
    He is my light, my strength, my song;
    This Cornerstone; this solid ground;
    Firm through the fiercest drought and storm;
    What heights of love, what depths of peace
    When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
    My Comforter, my All in All
    Here in the love of Christ
  2. In Christ alone, who took on flesh
    Fullness of God in helpless babe
    This gift of love and righteousness
    Scorned by the ones He came to save
    ‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
    The wrath of God was satisfied
    For every sin on Him was laid
    Here in the death of Christ I live, I live.
  3. There in the ground His body lay
    Light of the world by darkness slain
    Then bursting forth in glorious Day
    Up from the grave He rose again
    And as He stands in victory
    Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
    For I am His and He is mine
    Bought with the precious blood of Christ
  4. No guilt in life, no fear in death
    This is the power of Christ in me
    From life’s first cry to final breath
    Jesus commands my destiny
    No power of hell,
    no scheme of man
    Can ever pluck me from His hand
    Till He returns or calls me home
    Here in the power of
    Christ I’ll stand.

Daily Devotional for Teen’s guide was written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, one of the largest evangelical church in the world and also the President of Christ the Redeemer’s Ministries.
