MEMORISE: Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. – 1 Corinthians 6:18

READ: 1 Corinthians 6:17-20

  1. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
  2. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
  3. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
  4. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Corinthians 12:1-21

MASSAGE:

One of the greatest temptations faced by this generation is sexual sins. This is understandable. In my days, hardly would you see an almost naked woman on a billboard advert, but these days, even a toothpaste advert would have a practically nude woman in it. Also, in my days, there was no internet and virginity was a thing of pride and joy to a girls’ family.

However, it does not matter how times have changed, Gods word has not and cannot change. God still hates every kind of sin because it is disobedience to Him, as well as wickedness against fellow humans and oneself, particularly the sin of fornication.

The Bible admonishes us not to commit any sin but when it comes to fornication, it says, flee! Joseph must have understood this command clearly, so its no wonder that he fled before Potiphar’s wife.

I know that with an internet-enabled phone, it may be difficult not to see some bad images that would arouse you, but I can tell you what the Bible says: if your eyes would make you sin, pluck them off (Matthew 18:9 ). In other words, if an android phone would lead you to hell, don’t use it. If bad friends would make you fornicate, stay without friendship, after all, the best friend ever is still Jesus.

ACTION POINT:

Lock up and look on the word of God!

HYMN: Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus

  1. Stand up! stand up for Jesus
    Ye soldiers of the cross!
    Lift high His royal banner;
    It must not suffer loss.
    From vict’ry unto vict’ry
    His army shall He lead,
    Till every foe is vanquished,
    And Christ is Lord indeed.
  2. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    the trumpet call obey;
    Forth to the mighty conflict,
    In this His glorious day;
    Ye that are men now serve Him
    against unnumbered foes;
    let courage rise with danger,
    and strength to strength oppose.
  3. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    stand in his strength alone;
    The arm of flesh will fail you,
    Ye dare not trust your own:
    put on the gospel armour,
    And watching unto prayer;
    where duty calls, or danger,
    be never wanting there.
  4. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    The strife will not be long;
    this day the noise of battle,
    the next the victor’s song:
    to him that overcometh
    A crown of life shall be;
    He with the King of glory
    shall reign eternally.
