TOPIC: Not A Bed Of Roses [Open Heaven for Teens 23 July 2023]
MEMORISE: These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world. John 16:34
READ: Mark 4:36-39
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Isaiah 32-34
MESSAGE
The Christian journey is not bed of roses. Don’t believe an heresy that says that once you give your life to Christ, you will not have any problems again. The only difference is that as a Christian, you’re assured of victory when you patiently abide in Christ.
Many years ago, I accepted Jesus into my life so that he could solve a particular problem for me. He put an end to that problem, but guess what? My salvation didn’t give me immunity to problems: rather, it made my faith in Him stronger. Now, I am confident that He is in every situation with me, as He was in the boat with the disciples when they were in the midst of a great storm.
Dear child, trials and tribulations are part of our journey, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will overcome the all and reign with Christ in eternity.

HYMN 18 – When We Walk With The Lord
- When we walk with the Lord,
In the light of His word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
CHORUS
Trust and obey!
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.
- Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt nor a fear,
Not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey. - Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey - But we never can prove
The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay,
For the favour He shows
And the joy He bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey. - Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way,
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.
