TOPIC: Refuge For The Oppressed [Open Heaven for Teens 23 March 2022]

MEMORISE: The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Psalms 9:9

READ: 1 Samuel 23:6-14

  1. And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.
  2. And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.
  3. And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.
  4. And David knew that Saul secretly practiced mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.
  5. Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.
  6. Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down.
  7. Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up.
  8. Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.
  9. And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Luke 3:138, Joshua 9-10

MESSAGE:

In the world today, there is so much evil but God’s protection over His children is the surest thing anyone can bank on. In our Bible reading for today, God delivered David from Saul who sought to kill him day and night for no reason. The One who delivered David is still God and He will continue to act as a refuge for His own.

There are many teenagers suffering from both physical and spiritual oppression in the hands of the devil, which has led to sorrow, dejection, stagnation, failure, backwardness et cetera in their lives. I pray for you today, that every one supervising your oppression will be destroyed by the fire of God, in Jesus’ name.

Psalms 91:1-2 says: “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God, in him will I trust.”

The Lord will be a refuge to you henceforth and evil will be far from you, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 5: I Need Thee Every Hour

  1. I need Thee every hour,
    Most gracious Lord;
    No tender voice like Thine
    Can peace afford.

Chorus:
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Ev’ry hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Saviour,
I come to Thee.

  1. I need Thee every hour,
    Stay Thou nearby;
    Temptations lose their power
    When Thou art nigh.
  2. I need Thee every hour,
    In joy or pain;
    Come quickly and abide,
    Or life is vain.
  3. I need Thee every hour,
    Teach me Thy will;
    And Thy rich promises
    In me fulfil.
  4. I need Thee every hour,
    Most Holy one;
    Oh, make me Thine indeed,
    Thou blessed Son!

PRAYER POINT: Lord, please be my refuge always, in Jesus name.
