TOPIC: Appreciate Little Things [Open Heaven for Teens 23 March 2023]

MEMORISE: While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18

READ: 2 Corinthians 4:15-18

15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 4-7

MESSAGE:

In a particular year, things went contrary to my expectations, I did not receive the things I asked for. So, when it was time to prepare for thanksgiving service, I told God, “Daddy quite frankly, I am not sure I have anything to thank You for.” He asked “Are you sure?” I replied, “Yes.” Then He asked me to get a piece of paper and write the answers to the questions He would ask me. So He said, “How many times were you sick and regained your health? How many days out of the 365 days of the year did you sleep and wake up? This is a miracle because many sleep and never wake up.” By the time God was through, I realized that I had quite a lot of reasons to thank Him.

Some people hardly see any need to thank God because they have one or more pending requests. The problem is not that God has not done anything for you, but that you classify God’s goodness using the wrong yardstick. When He provides a material blessing, it’s a big thing, while waking up from sleep daily is little or nothing. There’s no small miracle: therefore, learn to appreciate Him for everything.

ACTION POINT

Thank God for what you would consider little for the next 30 minutes.

HYMN 11 – O Lord My God! When Am In Awesome Wonder,

  1. O lord my God!
    When am in awesome wonder,
    consider all
    The worlds thy hands hath made
    I see the stars,
    I heard the rolling thunder
    Thy pow’r thro’ out
    The universe displayed
  2. And when I think
    That God, His Son not sparing
    Sent Him to die
    I scare can take it in;
    That on the cross,
    My burden gladly bearing,
    He bled and died
    To take away my sin.
  3. Then through the woods
    And forest glads I wander,
    And hear the birds
    Sing sweetly in the tress;
    When I look down
    From lofty mountain grandeur
    And hear the brook
    And feel the gentle breeze;
  4. When Christ shall come
    With shout of acclamation
    And take me home,
    What joy shall fill my heart!
    Then I shall bow
    In humble adoration
    And there proclaim,
    My God how great Thou art!
